This example is a test-bed for our personal article style sheet. It includes support for figures, and works with MathJax. Here's a MathJax example: \begin{equation} b = \sqrt{a} \end{equation}

It is compatible with Matt Whitlock's table of contents javascript, whose section number format we modified slightly.

Section

This is a section with two paragraphs. The first is long enough to wrap around. Note that the first paragraph is not indented, following latex style.

This is the second paragraph. Note that it is indented.

Subsection

retarded/advanced displacement

Retarded and advanced sources for field point $x$

This subsection has a figure, floated to the right. MathJax is used for the variable $x$, both here and in the caption.

Subsubsection

retarded/advanced displacement

Retarded and advanced sources for field point

This subsubsection has the same figure, floated to the left.

Subsection

This is another subsection. Note what happens when the first figure's vertical size puts its bottom below the top of the second figure. We do get a nice flow around the right-hand figure.
