Nanotechnology Evolution Project

Background

As a part of the course ME599 Nano/Micro Structure Evolution taught by Professor Wei Lu of the University of Michigan's College of Engineering  - Department of Mechanical Engineering, a project was assigned.  The project was to develop a finite element method for simulating interface motion.  I choose to look at  migration of phase and grain boundaries.

The goals of this project were;

  1. Gain experience generating a numerical method to simulate interface migration.
  2. Develop a better understanding of the physics.
