Part I: It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (1/5-1/24)

Before we actually start cruising the vast expanses of the Internet, we need to learn the streets and byways of our own neighborhood, that is, the University of Michigan's networks and computing resources. During this part of the course, therefore, we will learn the language of the Internet, the various tools available to us here at U of M, and how to use some of those tools.

As a class we've been finding and sharing ftp, gopher and WWW sites and usenet and e-mail groups related to our research interests. Most of those are now collected in our Hotlinks Research Repository.
