1: 24 a Dixit quoque Deus: And God said,


b Producat terra animam viventem in genere suo, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds:


c iumenta, et reptilia, et bestias terrae secundum species suas. cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds."


d Factumque est ita. And it was so.

25 a Et fecit Deus bestias terrae iuxta species suas, And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds


b et iumenta, et omne reptile terrae in genere suo. and the cattle according to their kinds, and everything that creeps upon the ground according to its kind.


c Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum, And God saw that it was good.

26 a et ait: Then God said,


b Faciamus hominem ad imaginem et similitudinem nostram, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness;


c et praesit piscibus maris, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,


d et volatilibus caeli, and over the birds of the air,


e et bestiis, universaeque terrae, and over the cattle, and over all the earth,


f omnique reptili, quod movetur in terra and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth."

27 a Et creavit Deus hominem ad imaginem suam: So God created man in his own image,


b ad imaginem Dei creavit illum, in the image of God he created him;


c masculum et feminam creavit eos. male and female he created them.

28 a Benedixitque illis Deus, et ait: And God blessed them, and God said to them,


b Crescite et multiplicamini, "Be fruitful and multiply,


c et replete terram, and fill the earth


d et subicite eam, and subdue it;


e et dominamini piscibus maris, and have dominion over the fish of the sea


f et volatilibus caeli, and over the birds of the air


g et universis animantibus, quae moventur super terram. and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."

29 a Dixitque Deus: And God said,


b Ecce dedi vobis omnem herbam adferentem semen super terram, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth,


c et universa ligna quae habent in semetipsis sementem generis sui, and every tree with seed in its fruit;


d ut sint vobis in escam: you shall have them for food.

30 a et cunctis animantibus terrae, And to every beast of the earth,


b omnique volucri caeli, and to every bird of the air,


c et universis quae moventur in terra, and to everything that creeps on the earth,


d et in quibus est anima vivens, everything that has the breath of life,


e ut habeant ad vescendum. I have given every green plant for food."


f Et factum est ita. And it was so.

31 a Viditque Deus cuncta quae fecerat, And God saw everything that he had made,


b et erant valde bona. and behold, it was very good.


c Et factum est vespere et mane, dies sextus. And there was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.
