1: 9 a Dixit vero Deus: And God said,


b Congregentur aquae, quae sub caelo sunt, in locum unum: "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place,


c et appareat arida. and let the dry land appear."


d Et factum est ita. And it was so.

10 a Et vocavit Deus aridam Terram, God called the dry land Earth,


b congregationesque aquarum appellavit Maria. and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas.


c Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum. And God saw that it was good.

11 a Et ait: And God said,


b Germinet terra herbam virentem, et facientem semen, "Let the earth put forth vegetation, plants yielding seed,


c et lignum pomiferum faciens fructum iuxta genus suum, cuius semen in semetipso sit super terram. and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, upon the earth."


d Et factum est ita. And it was so.

12 a et protulit terra herbam virentem, et adferentem semen iuxta genus suum, The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds,


b lignumque faciens fructum, et habens unumquodque sementem secundum speciem suam. and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind.


c Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum. And God saw that it was good.
