ALL STAR TENNIS CAMP REPORT 2005

Nurit Weizman and Kyla Rowe organized the first annual "All Star Tennis Camp" this past summer.  The mini training camp was a four day camp which lasted two hours per day.  Each day consisted of warming up, technique review (forehands, backhands, volleys, serves), a "guest pro", games and snacks (popsicles were a hit!).

The AAACTA helped out a lot with advice, funding, balls and help in selecting kids to participate in the camp. The 12 kids were recruited from the spring AAACTA middle school tennis program. Cayman Sports donated racquets so each participant could take home their own racquet with hopes of promoting future tennis. Tennis pros from Chippewa and Huron Valley included John Veit, Craig Capelli, and Rick Goldman. The kids loved working with the pros.

The camp was a huge success and we are very excited to continue this great community program.  The feedback we received from the kids as well as their parents was extremely positive. Kari Larson and Kaoru Harada (who helped out last year) are excited to take on the camp this year. We feel it is a great program to continue passing on leadership to seniors on the Huron High Tennis team. Nurit and Kyla will assist Kari and Kaoru with the program this summer. Junior team-mates will also be included.
