RESIDENCY & AGE REQUIREMENTS: Participants must be
Washtenaw County residents with the following exceptions:
1) Residency requirements are waived for AAACTA members.
2) One member of a doubles team may be a non-resident.
3) Players must be at least 19 by the end of the year in order to
participate in events other than “Open”. Residency and
age
requirements are waived for Open events.
FORMAT: Shall be best 2 of 3 sets (except for Super Seniors as noted below). At 6-6, a 12-point tiebreaker will be used. A
10 minute break is allowed between 2nd and 3rd sets. Warm-up is limited to 10 minutes. DEFAULT TIME IS
10 MINUTES
FROM THE TIME OF THE SCHEDULED MATCH. Players should be prepared to play two matches a day.
RAIN POLICY: All participants should report to their tournament site on the designated play date 15 minutes before the
start time, RAIN or SHINE. The Tournament Director will determine whether or not to delay matches or to reschedule. If
the Tournament Director determines that a match may be played on the VTC indoor courts due to weather, all players must
agree to the move. Players will be responsible for any court fees incurred. AAACTA will pay for indoor court fees for final
events that must be moved inside.
TENNIS BALLS: Each player/team provides a new can of USTA approved balls for each match. Winner takes the new can,
loser takes the used can.
DRAWS: Draws will be posted on www.aaacta.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of play. Divisions with small
draws may be combined with others. To avoid conflicts with USTA schedules, 3.5 level singles matches will not be
scheduled on Thursday evening. If the 3.5 draw requires early first rounds, they will be played on Wednesday, June 24th, with
second rounds on Friday, June 26th.
LEVELS OF PLAY: Events are divided into levels according to NTRP rating levels. Details of the criteria for each level are
provided at www.aaacta.org. Doubles events are combined ratings of the participants. Round up if necessary, for example,
3.5 + 4.0 = 8.0. Century level requires the combined ages of participants to be at least 100.
QUESTIONS: If you have questions prior to the tournament, call the Tournament Director, Patrick Lee, at
313-820-0689. Once the tournament begins, direct all questions to the Site Directors:

second set and the 10 point match tiebreaker. At the discretion of the Tournament Director, the Super Senior Men’s division
may be a round robin format. If the Senior and Super Senior divisions are combined, matches between a Senior team and a
Super Senior team will use the 10 point match tiebreaker in lieu of a third set.
SUPER SENIOR WOMEN: Will play a round robin format. Partners and opponents will rotate. Multiple rounds of abbreviated
matches will be played each day. Total play time will be approximately 2 hours per day.
