Stories

Lydia likes few things more than pens and paper. Even early in Kindergarten she was writing notes on various topics. There was one that was particularly neat: on a sticky tab she wrote “Dear Calciums, I can chew you. Love, Lydia” and stuck it to the bottle of Tums.

Lydia also has a very active imagination, and often puts stories together in which she incorporates her favorite characters from different television and video programs. The stories that follow were dictated to Daddy.

“I Wanted Guys to Play with Me”

Starring Lydia, Raven, Phil, and Dorothy the Dinosaur

Lydia was playing jump rope with no two friends. So, she went for a walk to find new friends. First she went to a new house. And she looked through a door-hole of the house. And do you know what she saw? She saw a girl named Raven. Lydia opened the door, then Raven came out. Then they went to a street. And there was a police officer dinosaur named Dorothy. They went across the street, and then they saw a boy and a sister and a mom and a dad. The boy’s name was Phil. Then they went to the side of the street where Lydia and Raven went to go. Then when they got home to Lydia’s house, they played the jump rope game.

The End.

“Lydia’s Adventures”

Starring Lydia, Sporticus, Stephanie, Lydia’s Mom and Dad, JoJo, Goliath, and Stephanie’s Uncle, the Mayor

Once upon a time, there lived a little girl named Lydia. She was skipping through a forest. And do you know what she saw at the end of the forest? An amazing town! She stopped at a sign of the town that said “Welcome to Lazytown”. Lydia was glad and jumped for joy. Then, you know what she bumped into? A girl named Stephanie. Then the girl named Stephanie said, “Hello! Welcome to Lazytown.” Then when the little girl named Lydia was flying through the sky, she found a huge airplane. So she went inside. She saw a superhero working out, exercises. His name was Sporticus. And when she flew back down in the airplane with Sporticus, she saw Stephanie when she landed there. Then she landed down in a new land called Circus Town. She met two guys of her favorites. One was a lion and one was a clown. Their names were JoJo and Goliath. When Lydia said to Stephanie, Sporticus, JoJo and Goliath that her Mom and Dad need her home for supper. So Lydia invited Stephanie, Sporticus, JoJo and Goliath home for supper. When they got to Lydia’s house, we didn’t forget Stephanie’s Uncle, the Mayor. So we did get him. When they were at Lydia’s home, they had suppertime. Lydia’s favorite dessert was circle waffles. When it was time to go to bed, they brushed their teeth and then took a bath all by theirselves; Sporticus loves showers, and so does Lydia and Stephanie. Lydia’s favorite soap was Dial. Then, when their bath was done, they dried theirselves with towels all by theirselves. And when it was time to go to bed, they did go to bed. And you know what they dreamed of? They dreamed of Lydia’s birthday was that year in the morning.

The End.

Lydia’s Christmas Story

Starring Lydia, Santa, Daddy & Mommy

It was Christmas night, and I was asleep. Santa came down my fireplace. He gave me gifts like dolls and DVD’s and a blue dog. Then it was Christmas morning, and I waked up. And Mommy and Daddy woke up, too. We all opened our presents together.

The End.

Goodnight, Bird

Starring Bird, the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars

On a tree on a hill was a bird that would not sleep. “I’m not tired,” Bird said. As the Sun turned pink, “Sleep!” said the Sun. “But I’m not tired,” Bird still said. As the Sun went down, the Moon went up. “Sleep!” said the Moon. Then the Stars came out. “Sleep!” said the Stars. “But I’m (yawn) not (yawn) tired,” Bird said. And he snored, and he snored, and he snored. The Moon and the Stars said, “Goodnight, Bird.”

The End.

A Fairy Nice Day

November 12, 2005

One night, in the sky, there was a fairy and a constellation named “Orion the Hunter.” The fairy’s name is “Sweet Girl.” Her wings are pink. Her eyelids are sparkly blue! The style of her teeth are sparkly. One day, when I looked through a telescope, I saw them. My troup number is 972. I felt happy when I saw them. It was a ‘fairy’ nice day!

The End.
