Lydia in Brief

Here are some things you might like to know about Lydia:

• She was born at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, and has lived her whole life in the same home in Ann Arbor.
• She was named after two women in the Bible: Lydia (Acts 16:13-15), who was a woman of great godliness, and Rachel (Genesis 29:16-18), who was a woman of great beauty.
• She was 21.5” long and 7 lbs when she was born.
• She’s now about 4’10” tall, and weighs about 70 lbs, which means that she’s bigger than many 5th graders.
• Physically she takes after her Daddy, but she’s got her Mommy’s strength of character.
• She is attending 3rd Grade at Allen Elementary School. Her teacher is Mrs. Clyde. She has a new helper named Mrs. Bredernitz.
• She wears plastic braces to straighten and strengthen her ankles.
• She is allergic to milk and wheat (and possible other things), so her parents have to be extra careful with her diet. She is on the GFCF (gluten-free casein-free) diet; please visit www.gfcfdiet.com to read up about the reasons, and, hopefully, the effects!
• There are some things that she does with either hand, but, after a long time in which she seemed to be favoring her left (like Mommy), she has definitely switched over and become right-handed (like Daddy).
• She attends Grace Bible Church on Sundays, and takes part in the Awana T&T program on Wednesdays during the school year. Click on the T&T logo to listen to the club theme song, “The Ultimate Adventure” (2:41 seconds).
• Every summer she loves going to Vacation Bible School, at GBC and at other churches.
• She can tell you lots of stories from the Bible.
• She knows that Jesus loves her (click on the picture to hear the first song that her parents ever sang to her).
• She loves books (she is a terrific reader), music, videos, and coloring pictures. Her favorite part of school is the writing center.
• She loves playing with her dollhouse and with her stuffed toy “friends”.

  • Her favorite animal is the lion.
  • Her favorite food (before GFCF) was meat pizza.
• She loves to play mini-golf—she got her first hole-in-one this last summer, has two since, and has a large number of holes-in-two.
• She also likes to go bowling.
• She’s crazy about playgrounds (this is one of them at her former school—her Daddy also enjoyed playing there when he worked at Bryant as a teacher’s assistant; click on the picture to get the large version) and libraries.
  
• Her Daddy calls her ‘Princess.’
• She has a pet goldfish, which she named ‘Lollipop.’
• She has a wonderful laugh, and likes to be silly!
