This bit of family history is work in progress, and represents the contributions of many individuals, living and deceased, who have been instrumental in maintaining the family history, through the telling of tales, and through their constant work to maintain the links between the various branches of the Murnen family. First, there is Kathryn Murnen Fahey and Florence Murnen MacDonald, cousins whose friendship and correspondence across two states has been central in our reconstruction of the family history. There is also Uncle Edgar, whose persistent Irish charm brought the branches of the family together.

Thanks also goes to Aunt Jean Murnen Lynn, and Aunt Mary Alice Murnen, whose years of tireless research will not be lost. And finally to Sarah Murnen, for reminding me that there are others who want and need to know the family history.

My name is Timothy James Murnen (b. 1964), great grandson of Timothy Murnen, born in Ogdensburg, NY, 1852 (pictured above). His father was Owen Murnan(e) (b. 1819?), who came from County Cork Ireland with his wife Catherine Cronin (b. 1823?) in approximately 1847, at the height of the great potato famine.
