The happy dad after Delaney's birth on January 7, 2006
Kier even had guys following her around in Madagascar when we visited there in May 2003
One of Maya's few happy moments during our trip to Arizona in September 2005
Different sizes, same amounts of trouble! You can see them plotting something in the picture below.
Kier and Tim met in May 2001 in the Singles Ward of the Pittsburgh Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It took us just a couple of weeks to figure out we wanted to get married, which we did in December 2001 in the Washington, D.C. temple of our church. Life hasn't stopped since! Kier graduated from Duquesne University the week before we got married with a degree in violin performance. Fortunately, she was not a starving artist, at least not before she had kids. She played with the Wheeling and Youngstown Symphony Orchestras, had occasional appearances with the Pittsburgh Ballet Orchestra, ran a successful independent quartet, and taught over a dozen students in private lessons. Since moving to Michigan, Kier has cut back her hours to make time for the kiddos, but she still finds time to play with the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, teach another dozen students, and play with other trios and quartets.
Tim graduated from the University of Pittsburgh (Go Pitt!) in August 2003 (thanks to Kier's jobs, of course) with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He briefly contemplated work as a French-English translator, but took the safer route and went to graduate school. So here we are at the University of Michigan, waiting for Tim to finish his research and write his disseration. Expected departure: Spring 2008.
Maya joined us on May 10, 2004, just 14 minutes after her due date. She hasn't stopped moving since! No, seriously, she hasn't. If she's not dancing, jumping, taking care of baby dolls, drawing, moving furniture around, talking on the phone, or playing with a friend, then she's probably talking about one of those things. We're amazed by how quickly she learns things. She can be a handful, but we really try to capture the good moments when they come.
Delaney was born January 7, 2006. We were expecting her to come February 1, 2006, and we were walking through downtown Ann Arbor on a prized date night, when all of a sudden, it became apparent that Delaney was on her way! She's been a good baby so far. You can't tell in the picture above, but she has red hair. No one else in our family has red hair. Nevertheless, we trust that she's ours!
We have great parents who have worked hard to get us out of their houses and on our feet. Our dads both run private businesses. Kier's dad is the owner, CEO and jack-of-all trades of Uwanta Linen Supply in Wheeling, WV. Tim's dad recently opened the Independence Driving School in Tobyhanna, PA. Tim's mom teaches elementary school reading, and Kier's mom is a programs director for the American Lung Association.
In our free time (hah!), we love to go new places, learn new things, and meet new people. However, those things rarely happen. You're more likely to find us exercising, reading, or playing at the park or the pool, weather permitting. Tim ran his first marathon in 2005 and is the "offensive coordinator" for an intramural flag football team. Kier tries to keep up her violin skills and loves trying new recipes. Most of all, we're thankful for the gospel of Jesus Christ and love living it and talking about it.
