HOM Submission Guidelines


If you are unfamiliar with what a HOM is, you are a dillpup! How did you get to this page? Go back to the previous page and look at some to get an idea (sheesh). Just in case you stumbled your way here: Xdot's Hand of the Moment

HOM Criteria:

1. Hand values (i. e. SF vs. Quads; pr 2s vs. J high etc.)

2. Pot amount (Large pots with low hands, Low pots with large hands etc.)

3. Comments and running gags by players logged during the actual hand(s).

4. Comments after the fact deriding bad play or fine analysis of betting.

5. Readability (Edit out extraneous stuff)

6. Catchy Title

Other helpful hints:
Try to make HOMs read like someone was in the channel and just watching. So ordinarily they would not receive Bot messages with YOUR cards, urging YOU to bet etc.; You may want to leave them out. Some exceptions are if you want to show how BotMo filled your draw 4 Royal Flush, or where you discard a 2 only to draw 3 more 2s. Xdot almost always leaves out mode changes, mos leaving/joining, and any chatting that has no bearing on the hand.

We do not want any HOMs with 12 'p status' commands either. Remove unless maybe one where you are checking for vulture amount.

Multiple hands are OK. Sometimes required to show your point.

If more than one mo sends in the SAME hand as HOM, then Xdot has the option of publishing only one. (But you never know...)

VERY IMPORTANT: SIGN YOUR WORK with your poker nick. Otherwise you may not get credit.

What will Xdot do with this file:

Successful submissions might get a few comments added and they will also be set up for HTML. Remove all left angle brackets for best results too. Then the finished HOM will take its place on the Current Hands list for Poker or MoPoker.

How to log a hand:

Using ircII: just type '/set log on' and whatever is printed on the screen gets put in a file (IrcLog) in the directory from whence you ran ircII.

Any other programs: Find someone who uses it and knows how to log. (Xdot cops out?)

Anyone who submits one of these logs WITHOUT editing may (most likely) get rejected.


Legal Stuff:
All entries judged suitable for HOM status will be included in Vault/VaultMo (as per usual)
Any HOM submission WITH Xdot, Dotmo (or any other dot replicant nick) as a player WILL NOT receive any more or less consideration.
All submissions will be considered property of Xdot who may or may not share the copyright.
