Umbilical Cords

Tatiana Calixto

2011

Thak. Thak. Thak. You would hear every once in a while the ladies -the guatis cut a new piece of yarn with their hands to go on knitting their bags.

And so… when that piece is over, what do you do? Do you just tie another piece with a knot?

Oh, no. No, no. You have to twist the two ends again, so well you won’t even notice; you re-make the thread. It needs to flow and slide with ease. No knots.

No knots.

Like an umbilical cord.
