Sunday morning. The guinea pig that we would have for lunch had just been sacrificed. I didn’t want to see how señora Isidora did it, but we all next participated in a simple ceremony with flowers, and soft drink drops to thank Mother Earth for the fertility of these animals.

Isidora was laughing at our reactions to her sacrificing the animal, enjoying and appreciating our differences, but still recognizing why we were uncomfortable. She was smiling and laughing to tell us that what we felt was okay.
