Painted Desert

I toured the State of Oregon in the summer of 1996. There are many beautiful places there, including the Painted Desert, which is about 3 or 4 hours east of Portland. As part of this national park, there are mounds of fossils. Many of the fossils are leaves from deciduous trees, indicating that at one time, this area was a lush forest.
