Stantec Consulting, Ann Arbor MI: Oversees the development of utility mapping and GIS systems for water resources projects and studies. Conducts ESRI-Authorized ArcGIS training for internal and external clients. Responsibilities include GIS promotion, proposal preparation, supervision of GIS technicians, GIS project management, and end-product delivery.

Research Associate

David Garabrant, P.L.L.C., Ann Arbor MI: Assisted with legal defense of public health-related exposure claims. Helped prepare expert witness for cases related to carcinogen exposures. Analyzed residential, employment, family and social histories to identify lifetime cumulative exposures to known carcinogens of particular types of cancer. Used GIS for geocoding, proximity measurements, epidemiologic analyses, including the extraction, processing, and display of U.S. census data.

Graduate Summer Session in Epidemiology, School of Public Health, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI: Taught "Epid 777: Geographic Information Systems for Epidemiology" to graduate students and professionals from around the world as part of a three-week summer institute using ArcGIS.

Geographical Systems Consultant

Center for Statistical Consultation and Research, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI: Coordinated all aspects of spatial analysis throughout the University, including GIS hardware and software implementation, proposal preparation, data acquisition, digitization, overlay analysis, spatial statistics, and map production using ArcGIS 9. Provided training workshops for all GIS software packages, including ESRI-Authorized Training in ArcView GIS and customized training in ArcGIS 8 and 9. Answered and responded all GIS support questions sent to the University's Spatial Analysis & GIS telephone and email help systems. Designed, implemented, and updated the Online Campus Map for the University of Michigan using ArcIMS. Provided support to the University's Numeric & Spatial Data Services group in the campus Map Library, housing the largest collection of maps and spatial data in the State of Michigan. Assisted library patrons with finding and creating spatial data using GIS.

College of Urban Affairs, Cleveland State University, Cleveland, OH. Taught "UST 643: Advanced Geographic Information Systems" to graduate students in nationally ranked Urban Studies degree programs.

Educational Supervisor & Instructor

CADT Department, ITT Technical Institute, Strongsville, OH campus. Supervised the education and training of over 300 men and women in pursuit of Associate of Technology degrees in Electronics Engineering and Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD). Hired, trained, and guided instructors, increased student retention, and scheduled daily classes and activities. Maintained curriculums for all subjects, including Architectural Drafting, Structural Drafting, Civil Drafting, and Electrical Drafting. Taught courses in Geography, Calculus, and College Physics.

Research Fellow

ERIM Honors Program. Joint program between the University of Michigan College of Engineering and ERIM International, Inc. (formerly the Environmental Research Institute of Michigan, now General Dynamics Corp.) Utilized Erdas Imagine, ArcView, and Arc/Info to perform an extensive GIS landcover change vector analysis of Bonanza Creek, Alaska, using aerial photography and satellite sensors including LANDSAT, SPOT, and CORONA, combined with GPS-based ground truthing.

Assistant Research Scientist

Center for Earth Sciences, Environmental Research Institute of Michigan. Responsible for the interpretation, calibration, and presentation of satellite-based synthetic aperture radar data using Erdas Imagine, Arc/Info, ArcView, Imgmanip, and Matlab in a UNIX-based geographic information system.

Laboratory Technician

Space Research Laboratory, University of Michigan Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences Department. Represented the University of Michigan in the Southern Oxidants Study in Nashville, Tennessee. Transported, assembled and monitored a tropospheric meteorological field station. Conducted instrument calibration, equipment maintenance, and computer data acquisition.

 

November 1992 - April 1995

Laboratory Technician

Randall Laboratory, University of Michigan High Energy Physics Department. Constructed a drift tube hodoscope and high-altitude balloon gondola frame. Produced and maintained a high voltage gas calorimeter. Designed and assembled customized electronic circuits, terminal connectors, and structural components. Completed OSHA radioactive source measurement and handling training. Performed computer networking, electronic data acquisition, digital file transfers, and metal machine shop work.
