Scene 1:A Moisture Farm on Tatooine, owned by Owen and Beru Lars. They have no children themselves, but have raised their nephew, Luke Skywalker.

[A bedroom in the homestead, Luke is on the bed, playing with his model T-16 Skyhopper]

Aunt Beru: Hi, honey.

Luke: Hi, Aunt Beru

Aunt Beru:[Leans over and kisses Luke] You feeling any better?

Luke: A little bit.

Aunt Beru: Guess what?

Luke: What?

Aunt Beru: Ben Kenobi's here.

Luke: Aunt Beru, can't you tell him I'm sick?

Aunt Beru: You're sick? That's why he's here.

Luke: He'll pinch my cheek. I hate that.

Aunt Beru: Maybe he won't.

[Ben Kenobi enters Luke's room carrying a small package.]

Ben Kenobi: Good day, How's the sickie, eh? [Ben pinches Luke's cheek]

Aunt Beru: I think I'll leave you two pals alone.

Ben Kenobi: I brought you a special present.

Luke: What is it??

Ben Kenobi: Open it up. [Ben waits as Luke opens present]

Luke: A book?

Ben Kenobi: That's right. When I was your age, holovid were called books. And this is a special book. It was the book my Jedi Master used to read to me when I was sick, and I used to read it to your father, and today, I'm gonna read it to you.

Luke: You knew my father?

Ben Kenobi: When I met your father, he was already a great pilot and strong in the Force...but we'll save that for another day. On with the book.

Luke:Does it got any sports in it?

Ben Kenobi: Are you kidding? Lightsaber duels, fighting, torture, revenge, Jedi, Sith, chases, escapes, True Love, the Force...

Luke: [Sits on the bed, wrapped in blankets. He yawns.] Doesn't sound too bad. I'll try and stay awake.

Ben Kenobi: Oh. Well thank you very much. Very nice of you. Your vote of confidence is overwhelming. All right.
[Ben opens the book and begins reading.]

"The Princess Menace by G. Lucas, Chapter One. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Amidala was the princess on a small planet called Naboo, on the outer rim of the Republic. Her favorite pastimes were riding her speeder bike and tormenting the Slave boy that worked at the palace. His name was Anakin, but she never called him that." [pause] Isn't that a wonderful beginning?

Luke: Yeah, it's really good.
