This tool was designed to work primarily with YAC-Cosmid hybridization data, but it can be used with STS content data and other hybridization data as well. The (YAC) probes are listed down the left hand side, and their overlaps with (Cosmid) clones are shown as horizontal bars. The probes and clones can be easily reordered by dragging to produce a plausible ordering. With perfect data, the horizontal bars for each probe would merge into a single long bar, showing its extent over the ordered clone bins.

The tool also incorporates allows easy access to information in the database about the probes and clones.

The data in the sample screendump above is real data, but the probes are renumbered to protect ongoing research. Y: probes are YACs, S: indicates an STS probe, and M: is hybridized material from a microdissection scrape. The gross ordering was determined from known genetic ordering of the STS probes. Fine scale ordering within contiguous groupings was arrived at by using the tool.
