*** The Making of This Guide

The resources included in the first version of this guide were the result of six weeks of searching the Internet by Joanne Juhnke and Chris Powell. Initially, lists of listservs and newsgroups and other previously compiled guides on subjects related to the project were examined to identify appropriate groups. After monitoring the groups to determine their focus and tone, messages were posted asking for pointers to other resources. The members of the listservs and newsgroups were amazingly helpful; information about numerous resources was sent to us, and in one case a resource was created to fill our need.

Other resources were identified using Veronica and various World Wide Web search tools, such as the Einet Galaxy search page, WebCrawler, Lycos, and JumpStation. Serendipity also played a major part in the discovery process.

Version 1.2 of this guide was posted in December 1994; the current Version 2.1, posted in July 1995, has been checked, expanded and updated.

The Internet is vast and rich and constantly changing. The Internet resources that are described in this guide may go out of existence, and new resources will certainly appear.
