Other Romance Sites on the World Wide Web
There are lots of romance sites nowadays, but many are either just a collection of links to other sites or ideas that were begun and then dropped (I'm thinking in particular of one review site that hasn't been updated since June -- even I'm not that bad). Here's a list of the most interesting sites I've seen.
Individual Authors' Homepages:
These are pages that are not part of a larger romance or writer web site.
Collections of Romance Author Web Sites
-
- Part of the larger WritePage site, containing information about authors and forthcoming romance novels. Has the largest number of authors of any of the sites I've found so far.
-
- A website devoted to romance writers from Kentucky.
-
- Another collection of author pages.
-
- And another collection of author pages.
Sites of Interest to Romance Readers
-
- Reviews of new and available titles; some reviews give away a bit too much plot for some tastes, but very honest opinions. Be sure to read the ones the reviewers didn't like!
-
- A celebration of Regency romance, with links to all things Regency on the web, including books, fashions, movies, and even politics! As comprehensive as I wish to be.
-
- A new web site devoted to book reviews, with a section for romances, further divided into contemporary, historical, Regency, and time travel & paranormal. The reviewers tend to recommend everything very highly; I don't know if it is because they review only books they like, or if they choose not to be critical.
-
- Don't be put off by the cryptic name -- this site lives up to it's claim that it's "The site for obsessed Romance Novel Readers who need more quotes, reviews, and information on their favorite books and authors."
-
- Well, I wouldn't go that far, but it's a nice enough site with lots of information and links to other websites.
-
- Attractive, but mainly links to other romance sites. Now includes links to some author web sites.
-
- "A garden of delights for readers and writers of romance fiction." Reviews, articles, and more.
-
- Lots of information that might be of interest to romance readers, especially the list of forthcoming books. Been redesigned and looks and works much better.
-
- Hmmm, doesn't that title sound familiar? And those ratings.... Good idea, with some nice features (I'll be stealing the awards info for author pages myself), but as someone else said, those throbbing hearts have got to go.
Publisher and Vendor Sites with Romance Information
-
- The web version of the catalog for the "finest collection of romance, women's fiction, and lifestyle books available." Searchable, with secure online ordering. I wish there was a way to get all the romances in a particular category, though -- oh well, you can always order the excellent print catalog!
-
- Ingram Books, suppliers to libraries and bookstores, lists the 50 most-ordered books. Now you'll know what might be available at your bookstore soon! Some information about titles available as well.
-
- Avon books by month, information about authors, photos, and the Man of the Month contest.
-
- Information about books published by these publishers and their imprints, including Jove.
-
- Information about books published by Bantam, Doubleday and Dell.
-
- Search for romances and Regencies published by Random House imprints including Ballentine and Fawcett. The trick is to leave the author/title/keyword boxes empty, choose Regency or romance as the category, select all dates and an unlimited number of titles, and then you'll get all the romances or Regencies in the database!
-
- The people who bring you Zebra Books. Lots of romance-related information, chats, etc.
-
- The Harlequin Enterprises website, with information about Harlequin, Silhouette, and oddly enough, horoscopes.
