Reader comments:
perhaps it's not fair to rate this one as i'm only at the mid point. I find it, as my rating states, better than average. THere's an awful lot in the novel about horse racing and if you're not intrested it can get tedious at times. The characters are good though, and they've kept me intrigued enough to keep flippin' the pages. The on complaint I've got about Nora Roberts is her titles. They're always so damned cheesy! It's sad, because her books are good, but the titles kept me from reading anything of hers for quite a while. (R.M., 3-13-97) It could have been longer and a little more humor. But it's a great book. (M.D., 2-8-97) I absolutely loved this book. The hero was sexy and commanding and good to the heroine. The romance was top notch and is especially enjoyable to anyone who likes horses. (C.A., 12-27-96) This book asks us to believe that someone who has grown up in Washington, DC--the daughter of the chairman of the English Department at Georgetown University, no less--has for over twenty years never heard that her mother, who comes from a prominent family of Virginia horseracers, was convicted of killing her lover and serving time in prison. I sure did have trouble suspending disbelief for that one. I didn't read much beyond the scene where the daughter, having learned of the mother's existence, goes to visit her and there meets her mother's dear friend, soon to become the heroine's love interest. Why isn't he the mother's love interest? I wondered (but not enough to keep reading). (E.P., 12-8-96)
