- I HATED this book! It was BORING! Neither of the characters were likable in my opinion. That whole thing about not letting her buy furniture- it was annoying. (C.D., 4-4-98)
I liked the fact that for once the hero was able to exzpress his feelings so upfront. Maybe it is just because I am a hopeless romantic, but I like the idea of being swept off my feet by a dashing Puerto Rican prince. (A.C., 6-3-97)
well, what do you expect? wasn't this her first publication? Or close to it? Can't expect perfection, after all. But if I'd read this one first, I'd never have picked up another McNaught, and then I'd have missed PARADISE, and PERFECT! (L.W., 5-10-97)
Well, this is a day: Catherine Coulter gets a book on the five-star
list, and TWO Judith McNaughts end up at the bottom of the page.
Folks, this does not compute! "Tender Triumph" is not a great
McNaught, but it sure as heck beats a whole lot of the junk that's
rated higher. I will give this book a "5" to balance the scales
and salve my offended sensibilities. (S.R., 3-4-97)
This is not one of McNaught's masterpieces. I found this book rather disappointing, and yes, boring to read. I didn't like the heroine, Kate(?) and I believe the hero to deserve better than a spoilt, complaining, stereotypical woman. This book tends to drag on and all in all, I just wanted it to end (sometimes skipping bits and pieces here and there just to read the "The End". (A.A., 2-6-97)
For those of you who may not be aware, Tender Triumph was one of
McNaught's earlier books as well as Double Standards. They were
published as Harlequin Superromance and Temptation, respectively.
This was preparation for her as she was writing THE historical--
Whitney, My Love. This I wouldn't hold against her, unlike her
recent ones. (M.Y., 1-8-97)
THIS BOOK SUCKED!!! I FELT VERY CHEATED AND I THINK THAT
ALTHOUGH HER NEW NOVEL IS GETTING SLAMMED, IT IS A MUCH BETTER BOOK
BECAUSE THE HERO DIDN'T HAVE SOME TRAGIC PAST THAT MADE HIM MISTRUST
THE GIRL. IF ANYONE HAS EVER HAD THE FORTUNE OF BEING MARRIED TO A
LOVE-AT-FIRST-SIGHT, READ 'REMEMBER WHEN"!!!! (R.G., 12-27-96)
Another decent read from McNaught. It's surprising, considering her consistent track record, that when she finally makes it to hard cover with the just published REMEMBER WHEN, she turns out such a dud! (E.P., 12-9-96)
