Reader comments:
Given the hype on this book I was quite disappointed. The humor struck me as just silly with the joke being extended way to far, these people were suppose to be adults for heavens sake. (Y.F.P., 3-27-98) Started off stronger than the middle or end, very sweet but very improbable story. (Y.F.P., 3-15-98) Started off stronger than the middle or end, very sweet but very improbable story. (Y.F.P., 3-15-98) First book by her I have read. I kept hearing such glowing reports, I thought I should give it a try. I did enjoy the book, and thought the spur part was particularly delightful. Lacey is such an endearing person and Hawk was so forgiving. (K.K., 1-2-97) I really enjoyed this book, and would recommend it to anyone. I especially loved the part about the pie! (C.G., 6-3-96) Wonderfully humorous western with very likable hero/heroine. Just loved those spurs (especially in the love scenes)! (S.O., 5-21-96) Funny story with very endearing characters, who are each wounded in their own way but find love and peace with each other. The use of the spurs to give the heroine confidence was a lovely touch--as was the scene when John finally figured out she was wearing them--what a riot! One of the funniest scenes was Lacey's inept attempts to gather the eggs and milk the cows--having never done these things before, she displayed a naivete that was screamingly funny, and a persistence that probably left the poor farm animals traumatized. Lovely book, not all laughs, with the love story gradually evolving and the two characters' devotion to each other very endearing. (D.N., 5-12-96)
