- One of my favorite Quick's. Gabriel was a tough nut for Phoebe to
crack and the twists and turns in their relationship was wonderful. (Y.P., 3-20-97)
I love the use of characters in this book. Quick's heroines are always feisty and rebellious, not at all like the usual hum-drum "I'll do everything for you" kind of girls. Reckless is no exception. Phoebe Layton may be a romantic at heart, but certainly she is no light-headed wench. She knows when she is down and tries to pick herself up. (T.N., 11-25-96)
Pheobe was a very non-traditional type of woman for her day, but I think had I been around her, we would have been good friends. She was a very fun person. Unfortunately, her family thought there waas such a thing as too much fun, and it took Gabriel to down tone it, until Phoebe turned things around on him. I wonder if they would have liked King's Island? (R.D., 8-22-96)
