- This was the first book that I read by Beverly Jenkins. It kept me spellbound and I couldn't put it down. Imagine my surprise when I found that she wrote two more novels. I bought them and am waiting on the fourth. Keep up the good work. (A.D., 4-10-98)
Night Song was simply wonderful. I find the historical information most fascinating. I must admit the house setings were some funny and romantic. (M.M.G., 3-18-97)
One of my great reads of 1996!! I am also going to read Vivid.
I sincerely hope that Ms. Jenkins is in the process of writing
her third novel. I can't wait. I am truly one of her lifelong
fans!! (E.L.H., 11-5-96)
Another excellent book by Beverly Jenkins, I have all three of her books, Beverly is at the top of the list for African American romance writers. (A.S., 11-3-96)
This was the first book I have read by this author. I loved it!!! I had never read one (romance novel) with African Americans as the main characters. I've passed it on to my book group to read. We adore it. We look forward to reading more by Ms.Jenkins. (T.M., 10-17-96)
Quite simply, THIS IS THE MOST WONDERDFUL ROMANCE I'VE EVER READ!!!
I absolutely love this book! Beverly-girl, you know you can write!
I have now read it three times. This book was the reason I founded
our book club (which does not have a name yet!). I had to share it
with anyone and everyone, even friends who have never read a
romance novel agree, Night Song is wonderful.
Night Song is the standard by which we rate all other novels. Thank
you for telling the world we had a histroy after slavery and before the
civil rights movement! I could go on and on, but I'll end by saying,
YOU GO GIRL!! (G.W., 10-16-96)
I enjoyed this book so much. It seems as if I knew the characters. I hope you are doing a sequel to Night Song. (S.G.B., 6-8-96)
This book was far more than I expected. I read it, and enjoyed the weaving of the romance with historical aspects of the book. As an African-American it was wonderful to see two well developed characters that I could relate to. I plan to pass this book on to others!! (S.G., 5-15-96)
This is a wonderful book. I could not put it down. I am a member of a book club called Second Sunday Black Literary Book Club in Durham, NC and this was our book for the month of April. You should have been there to hear the comments made. We all loved it!! (S.S., 4-14-96)
I love this book. As an African American, it was a refreshing change to see my race presented in a positive light. I've been reading romance novels for quite some time. It is such a delight to finally read a book I truly can relate to. Beverly Jenkins has a life long fan in me! (B.W., 2-16-96) Refreshing! A sweet novel with wonderful characters. (A.T., 2-13-96) One of the lovliest historial novels by a African-American Writer.
The male is presented as a unique individual who courts his woman with tenderness
and sensitivity. (W.J., 12-17-95) Wonderfully sensual love scenes. (C.L., 11-27-95).
