Wolf uses simple, lucid language to tell a pleasantly romantic if obvious story. Her characters are not "deep," but they are not stereotypes either--and she captures them in strong, compact descriptive sentences and conversation. This is one of her best Regencies; she's since gone on to bigger and better things. (E.P., 1-4-97)
