- i liked this one best of all Hannah's books because of the reality factor. I don't care for time travel or some of the other storylines she has used, but this one had a rather believable fantasy line which empowered the story and made it all the more enjoyable. (L.W., 5-10-97)
It's difficult to decide whether to rate this one a 4 or 5...Kristin Hannah's writing, as usual is superb, and I can
tell she's always trying to stretch herself creatively and keep fresh. This book is a bit more "mainstreamy" than the
rest of her books, which is okay. I did come to it, expecting more of a romance, and because of that, had difficulty
with the characters--I wanted to slap Angel from time to time, as well as the heroine. However, I keep reading anyway,
which says a lot for the book and for Hannah's writing. She really has a way of pulling you in, regardless of how you
might feel about her characters. I've put this book on my keeper shelf to re-read and study from time to time, just to
figure out how she does it! (K.E.H., 1-15-97)
More predictable and less romantic than some of Hannah's other books, but still quite readable, and even moving in spots. (E.P., 12-9-96)
