- Great Book! Her Mackenzie series is fantastic!! I'm waiting to hear about Chance - what a great character!! All her books are a fun read!! (D.B.B., 2-21-98)
love her and her work, (V.S., 1-30-98)
Absolutely great humor and great sex! This book, along with others by Linda Howard, are the only romance novels that never fail to entertain. Somehow, she had discovered the formula for intensity and avidly applies it to her work. I always look forward to the next one. (C.S., 5-20-97)
I've read everything Linda Howard has published. "Heart" is one of my all-time favorites, second only to Dream Man. (K.E., 3-11-97)
After the compelling drama of Howard's DREAM MAN and the well-paced sexual tension of her AFTER THE NIGHT, I was a bit disappointed with this book. I found Ben to be an appealing hero, and some sexual tension was certainly present, but it seemed far more artificial than in the other two Howard books. Also, the heroine's relationship with her brother struck me as extremely shallow, or at least shallowly conveyed. But my real problem with this book was that, for me, Howard is just too prosaic a writer to capture the exotic jungle setting or the sense of wonder necessary to make the lost-city legends really come alive. Absent such ingredients, I might still have enjoyed the book more if it had contained more humor (a prominent ingredient in ROMANCING THE STONE and THE AFRICAN QUEEN, two films with somewhat similar plots and settings), but except for a chuckle early on, on hearing the nickname mocking colleagues gave the heroine's father, I don't think I laughed once. (E.P., 3-4-97)
I am again reading this book! It is as good now as it was the first time. Linda Howard really knows how to reach in and grab you. The relationship between Ben and Jillian was perfect because of its stormy electricity. A++++ for Ms. Howard. (P.L., 2-10-97)
For me Linda Howard can't go wrong. As always a stong type A hero, who is determined to protect the heroine where or not she needs his help. I especially like the background of the Amazon jungle, and of the ledgendary Amazons themselves. I dare you to read the scene where Jillian finds Ben seaching her hotel room. Their raparte is one of my favorite examples of great dialogue. If you loved Romancing the Stone, you'll love this action/adventure love story. (I.B., 2-3-97)
I have been an avid romance novel reader for over 20 years. Linda Howard is by far my favorite romance novelist.
I eagerly await for every novel she writes. I would recommend every book that she has written and this one is no
exception!! (L.H., 2-1-97)
It's hard to pick a favorite among Linda Howard's works. This one has to rank close to the top, right along with Dream Man (K.E., 1-18-97)
I love everything Howard has written. I would love to chat to another devotee! Her love scenes really sizzle.
I loved Duncan's Bride and the Mackenzie series. (S.W., 1-13-97)
I think this book was one of her very best. I have enjoyed it very
much over and over again. I wish she would write other books like that
one. (P.T., 11-13-96)
It's a wonderful book - Linda Howard once again brings the reader
into the novel and lets them experience it first hand. (K.G., 10-31-96)
