Reader comments:
This is a Lovely, Lovely book! A pleasure to read and leaves one with that warm fuzzy feeling of a good book. (S.D., 5-18-97) All of Ibbotson's novels are must reads! Her novels are at the same time LOL funny, gently ironic, incredibly poignant and as in the case of Madensky Square - bittersweet. Her writing ability puts popular romance novelists in the shade. I hope she writes some more - PLEASE! A Company of Swans was my first Ibbotson and I went on to devour the others. I cannot praise her enough! (E.K., 3-20-97) Nicely written, liked the unusual settings. (S.I., 2-19-97) Absolutely charming; among the best of several very fine romantic novels by an author who can really write. Though the romance here is nicely romantic, Ibbotson also excels in delightful, often eccentric minor characters. Also good are her MAGIC FLUTES, A COUNTESS BELOW STAIRS, and esp. THE MORNING GIFT. (E.P., 2-4-97)
