Reader comments:
The charaters never seemed to come to life or to interact with each other. I was disapointed. (D.C., 3-11-98) Being descended from the MacQueens, the cover with the MacQueen plaid immediately caught my eye. I enjoyed the concept of the sister taking his dead wife's place and his not understanding how his wife had come to change so much. One of my favorites by Arnette Lamb!! (L.H., 12-6-96) Perfect combination of romance and humor. (I'm on my third copy. The previous two copies fell to pieces after constant rereading.) (A.S., 9-13-96) Very good book....one of the best historicals I have read in recent years. (D.C., 5-20-96) I thoroughly enjoyed this book. (P.C., 4-8-96) Best Scottish historical book I've read! (D.G., 1-27-96) My favorite of all Arnette Lamb's books. Loved the hero's confusion over the changes in his "wife's" behavior -- very funny. (J.S., 11-30-95) From the background information I was given, I had expected some quarreling between the heroine and hero. I had wanted to read some sparks between the characters, but I was sorely disappointed. (K.B., 10-29-95) I like Arnette Lamb's books. I think the elephant idea was inspired. (M.B., 10-28-95) This was my first ARNETTE LAMB. I have read everything of hers I can find since. I absolutely loved the elephant! (D.T., 9-11-95) Good story but wish there would have been more history. The best of three in this series. (J.A., 8-31-95) This book captured the political turmoil of the times and was a very good love story. (T.B., 6-24-95)
