Reader comments:
Typical Jo Beverley novel which combines good characters and storytelling. Interesting twist concerning marital consumation but ultimately the resolution was unbelievable. I found Imogen rather spoiled and naive in her attempt to rule her demesne, since if it hadn't been for Ty she would have been homeless, destitute and at the mercy of any unscrupulous villain. Not one of Ms. Beverley's more involving stories, but still better than your run-of-the-mill medievals because of Ms. Beverley's ability to keep the reader interested. (K.G., 12-3-96) I liked the hard-to-breach castle--well-done descriptions of fighting strategies and physical action/adventure--but the hard-to-breach hymen was a bit much. With all this fine action, there was no need to prolong the consummation, and the means by which it was prolonged was pretty silly. (E.P., 5-19-96) This book is everything that is good about a medieval romance. Jo Beverley captures the character and essence of the period while taking you on a wild ride with her hero and heroine. Definitely one for the keeper shelf. (T.E, 8-19-95) This was a very good book. I enjoy medieval the most, and Jo Beverley does a very good job. (B.M., 8-18-95) One of the best medieval books I've read. Jo Beverley is a fantastic writer. Hope she does another medieval soon. (G.H., 8-4-95)
