- I enjoyed this book from page 1! I hated for the story to end! (J.B., 5-6-98)
I really enjoyed this book and purchased The Texan and The Wedding
Raffle. This author has done well with Texas history and combines
fiction and facts wonderfully. (J.R.T., 4-16-97)
I greatly enjoyed this book. I'm an old romantic at heart, even though I'm only 26, and almost anything to do with weddings is sure to get me teary-eyed. (L.J., 3-29-97)
This is the first novel that I have read by this author and after
reading it I purchased another of her novels. The subject and the
history was interesting and entertaining.
the subject with the history was well done. (J.T., 3-12-97)
This is one of those sweet, well-written, small-town southern romances a la LaVyrle Spencer, Pam Morsi, etc. Some people like them; some people don't--and unfortunately I fall into the latter category. It's not that there's anything really terrible about the book--it's just a matter of taste. I was bored, especially with the treacly children, and read only about 100 pages. The only thing I found mildly amusing was the series of folk superstitions that the author used as epigraphs to start each chapter--a nice touch, I thought. (E.P., 3-12-97)
First book I've read by this author, liked it so well I've ordered
all her others...great heroine, lots of spunk, I loved the swapped
bridegroom scene, laughed till I cried, good exciting ending too! (S.R., 11-14-96)
Great historical research. Author is very familiar with her settings and time period. Characters are believable and real. Humor is excellent. (M.A.E., 10-13-96)
It was an okay read. Not something I'd tell people to run out and
buy, but read it if it happened to come into their possession. (L.P., 10-4-96)
First time I have read anything by this author. I liked the characters but the distrust theme
started to get on my nerves. The switching of grooms at the wedding was not handled believably
but enjoyed it other wise. (S.R., 10-1-96)
