- Ms. Mills has been a fine storyteller for a long time, but I am sad to see the murky and ugly new elements in her stories. Maybe it's time to discontinue the Anita Mills nom de plume for another one if this is to be the direction she must take. The good stories should go under the Anita Mills name for future readers. (P.L., 4-3-98)
This was the first book by Ms. Mills that I read - I liked the realism and the romance. Also the characters were well fleshed out. I have since read the sequels (Secret Nights, Falling Stars) and wish that she would write another, maybe featuring George Leighton. (K.G., 2-6-98)
this was the first of Mill's books that i read
and loved it!!. She has a profound way of
demonstrating to the reader that love is not
as easy as other authors make out.
this is real life stuff - none of the typical
bunk that pervades romance books.
i'm glad that she is included on this list so
that i can finally get round to saying i reckon
that her books are very thoughtfully written.
They stir up a vast range of emotions some
of which are not necessarily pleasant, but at least
they are realistic. (K.B., 3-4-97)
HAVE READ ALL OF ANITA'S BOOKS AND LOOK FORWARD TO ANY NEW RELEASES.
PLEASE FORWARD MY ADDRESS TO HER, WERE FRIENDS BEFORE "LADY OF FIRE" WAS
FIRST RELEASED. I HAVE LOST HER PLATTSBURG MO. ADDRESS SO CAN'T CONTACT
HER MYSELF. THANK YOU KAY HALE (L.K.H., 2-10-97)
I enjoyed this book immensely. Mills' unique way of plotting (ie making
the hero and heroine suffer long and hard to get to each other) heightens
my anticipation for them to be together. This bittersweet style makes the
characters much more memorable than those mushy stories that have been floating
around for too long. (J.Z., 11-12-96)
I've read several of her books--they are all similar in the sense that she seems to like for her characters to really suffer. The hero and heroine also take a looooong time to get together, which also is pretty typical for this author. Still, well-written book on the whole. (E.C., 10-21-96)
I picked it up because I had nothing to read and boy, was it a mistake ! (K.T., 10-11-96)
I am a big fan of Anita Mills. This is not my favorite. But her characters are always memorable and the scenes are beautifully descriptive. You can believe you are there, and you are glad. (L.F., 3-27-96)
