- Great on themes of post traumatic stress disorder, meditation and concentration in context of indigenous religion, being different and healing. Shows us rural Regency England. Someone recommended this to me as having the best written male character of any r. novel. True or close to it. Also liked character of Maxie with her blending, crossing and staunch independence. I recommend this highly. It is one of my favorite books. (S.T., 5-30-97)
Read this after reading the original which came out several years ago. I wish authors would let the originals stand instead of re-writing them to add sex. the original stories are just fine. Coulter is another one who is doing this. Stop - please! (E.M., 5-23-97)
Not a terrible book but after Petals in the Storm and Shattered Rainbows
for me it was a letdown. I was much more interested in the storyline
between Desdemona and Giles than I ever was about Robin and Maxie. Although
I love Robin, for me, he and Maxie never clicked. The whole story seemed to
contrived and pointless. I'm anxiously awaiting the release of Stephen
Wilding's story, brother of Kenneth from River of Fire. I hope it's better
than this was. Guess I'll content myself rereading Shattered Rainbows
I"ll never get tired of Michael! (K.H., 3-27-97)
I liked this book and thought it a 'fun' read. I always like road stories, and I like it when the the hero see right through the heroine's disguise as a boy. The only fault I found is the 'danger' they are running from turns out to be non-existant, and the 'bad guys' who have been chasing them are really on their side.
This made the whole plot collapse like a souffle taken from the oven too soon. I was dissapointed at the end, but did like the characters throughout the book, especially the secondary romance of Robin's brother. (I.B., 3-17-97)
Is it just me, or are Putney's characters a little too perfect? I found myself wishing the characters in this book were more human, less superhuman. In places, I found the story dragged a bit. Otherwise, quite entertaining. (N.M., 1-22-97)
I absolutely loved this book! One of the best I've read so far! (T.M., 1-19-97)
I thought it was well written. (M.B., 8-25-96)
I like Putney but I feel she has been very dishonest with her fans in releasing these old books with new titles and passing them off as new. I swore to myself the last time she did this I would not read any more of her books. If she has hit a dry spell why not just say so? Instead of isssuing all these rewrites. (P.C., 8-8-96)
I am a confirmed fan of Mary Jo Putney's and Angel Rogue hasn't changed that. I liked the fact that Robin wasn't the typical hero-a titan as big as an oak, as they often are-and that his checkered past didn't ruin his basically fun, caring personality. I liked the fact that Ms. Putney features (in cameos) her "fallen angels" in this series. You come to care about them and to cheer them on. I just loved this book! (S.P., 7-15-96)
5 BIG HEARTS! WHAT A GREAT BOOK! DANCING ON THE WIND WAS MY FAVORITE
FALLEN ANGEL BOOK UNTIL THIS! ROBIN IS SUCH A FUN HERO! HE COMBINES
SEXY AND HUMOR IN ONE PERFECT PACKAGE!! IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT, DO SO
TODAY! YOU'LL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN! (L.M., 6-11-96)
One of the best of the Rogue books, although this rewrite of The Rogue and the Runaway is not so very different. Putney cashing in. (E.P., 5-19-96)
I've said it once, I've said it a million times, The Fallen Angel Series is outstanding writing. I was so glad that MJP brought 'Robin' into it, he was adorable in the first book as a spy and just as cute in Angel Rogue. I read in the back of one of the Fallen Series books to look for Robin in Return of the Rogue, but as it turns out, Angel Rogue is what they named the book. I only searched for Return of the Rogue for a week before I figured that one out. Don't make the same mistake okay? (K.S., 5-15-96)
This is my favorite in Fallen Angel Series. Loved them all though.
Would love to borrow The Rogue & the Runaway from someone. Maybe
could exchange a book each of hers to borrow with someone? (M.S., 4-11-96)
Discovered Mary Jo Putney through internet; this is first book of hers I read -- it is great. I have now read all four in the Rogue series
and they are great. Characters are intelligent, strong, sensitive and honorable. I'm looking for more Putney! (M.P., 4-10-96)
I appreciate intelligent heroines. I have enjoyed this entire series. (S.C.L., 3-21-96)
I've read all of Putney's books, and this was one of my favorites. (N.D., 3-3-96)
I've just discovered Putney and so far I have been pleased with all
of the books of hers I have read. This is particularly good. I do recommend
it. (C.A., 1-29-96) This is the first book by Mary Jo Putney that I had read. Needed to find others. When is the last story about Michael coming out? (D.M.S., 1-12-96) One of my favorite books by a favorite author, an all-time keeper.
Interesting characters with depth. Unusual events for a Regency, but seems
historically accurate for the time period. An interesting secondary romance.
(J.V., 8-14-95) This book is a rewrite of
Putney's Regency "The Rogue and the
Runaway," a book I thought was slight enough in plot to be ill-suited
to expansion. I was wrong. As always, Putney does a wonderful job
with the little details that make a book interesting for me. (L.C., 6-16-95)
