Employment
Android Programming
Research Intern
Dr.Yuan Xue's lab at Vanderbilt University
May 2013 - August 2013
- Used Java's Remote Method Invocation to offload the computationally intensive portions of android applications to a server.
- Hardcoded offloading method into sample app and then wrote code parser that takes in an android application and edits the code to offload portions to server.
Physics Research Intern
Dr.Charles Brau's lab at Vanderbilt University
Jan 2011 - Jan 2012
- Characterized electron beam transmission through graphene
- Publication: Vikas Kumar, Dhiraj Prasai, Jonathan Jarvis, and Charles Brau. (2012) Minimizing Carbon Buildup on Graphene Facilitates Electron Transmission, Young Scientist Journal. Vol 2: 23-25.
- Poster Presentation: Vikas Kumar, Jonathan Jarvis, Charles Brau. Characterization of a thermionic electron beam for suitable graphene experiments, School for Science and Math at Vanderbilt Poster Symposium. Summer 2011.
Projects
My Github
Leap-Step
- A Leap Motion controlled dubstep synthesizer and visualizer. Different gestures produce different sounds and visuals. Position impacts ’wobble’ rate and pitch. ChallengePost Link
The Chordinator
- Given an input melody, the program generates a matching chord progression and produces a MIDI file containing both the user-input melody and the accompanying chords.
CollabHub
- A social media website designed to help people find collaborators with matching skill sets.
AnimeWall
- Given a list of TV Shows and Movies, finds a series of HD wallpapers to use as desktop backgrounds.
Leap Motion Synthesizer
- Programmed Leap's Motion Recognition device to create a 3d 'air' synthesizer. Moving hand from left to right changes pitch, moving up and down changes volume, and moving front to back changes distortion (or other user-selected audio effects)
