The following are the standards I'll use as I evaluate the portfolios:
A "C" portfolio will
1. include all the items listed in "Portfolio Contents";A "B" portfolio will do all the above. In addition, it will
2. include writing that is consistently competent in terms of grammar, mechanics, documentation (when needed), punctuation, and mechanics;
3. demonstrate that the student has a basic understanding of and can work within the contexts and with the genres of technical and professional writing;
4. demonstrate that the writer can analyze how to communicate within and between discourse communities;
5. demonstrate that the author an author has a fully developed understanding of her/his writing purposes and audiences and has consistently made decisions regarding content, format, style, and voice that allow her/him to achieve her/his purpose and meet the needs and the expectations of the audience;
6. demonstrate that a writer can collaborate with other writers to develop and complete a writing project that successfully achieves its purpose and meets the needs and expectations of its audience.
1. demonstrate the author's ability to succeed at variety of genres of writing;"A" portfolios will do all the above but also demonstrate creative responses to the demands of audience and purpose as the author negotiates the relationships between and within discourse communities.
2. include writing that is of transmittable quality in regard to the characteristics raised in point 2 above;
3. demonstrate that the author can successfully communicate within and between discourse communities;
4. demonstrate that an author--working as individual or within a group--consistenly meets the requirements of her/his purpose and the expectations and needs of his/her audience;
The Portfolio will contribute 70% to your final grade.
