ENGLISH 229:  IN CLASS ASSIGNMENTS

At the beginning of most classes, I'll ask you to do some writing that relates to the day's assignment, and regularly, you'll form groups and do collaborative assignments based on the reading.  Most often these assignments will be completed either in  the "Assignments" or in the "Discussions" in Course Tools.

I will evaluate these (quickly, for content, not a style, grammar, etc.).  Carefully detailed work with thoughtful analysis will receive an A.  Work with significant detail and analysis will get a B.  Work with some detail and analysis will get a C.  Being in class will get you a D.  And if you fail to attend class or are not in class during the time allotted for the assignment, you will get an E.  These assignments cannot be made up.

Also, failing to complete a drafts or revisions of Short Assignments or the Collaborative Project on schedule could  affect your In Class Assignment grade, and note that both the proposal and the presentation for the Project will be graded as in class assignments.

These in class assignments will contribute 30% to your final grade.
