The Next Steps to Restore the E. M. Skinner

Tonal Restoration

Two wonderful reed stops in the division called the "Swell" division were altered. First, the Flügel Horn, which is a smooth and mellow solo and chorus sound was bumped up the octave to create a "Clarion" for the reed chorus. While it is nice to have a clarion, the Flugel Horn is much more useful at unison pitch for most church service work and choral accompanying. Additionally, the "Vox Humana" was removed and a 2' Flute was put in its place. The Vox Humana is an essential voice in a 1920's pipe organ, and a usual part of a E. M. Skinner Pipe Organ. It is important to have this stop returned. We are fortunate that the pipes, both the basses of the Flügel Horn and the Vox Humana, are in the chamber. Returning them is a relatively simple task

This chest is duplexed to the Great, meaning that the great division can use certain stops of this chest independently via its own primary.
