These letters to prospective sponsors were prepared by Brad Myers for the UIST99 conference.

For PREVIOUS sponsors
---------------------

Dear ****,

Thank you for being a corporate sponsor for UIST'**. You may be
thinking about getting your UIST'99 papers ready (the deadline
for submissions is May 7), and I hope you will also be working on
getting *** to be a sponsor for UIST'99. We certainly appreciate
your support in the past, and hope that we can count on you to be
a sponsor for this year as well.

As you know, UIST is the ACM SIGGRAPH and SIGCHI Symposium on
User Interface Software and Technology and is partially supported
by corporate sponsors, and we would not be successful without
that support.

Corporate sponsor support is typically used to permit a greater
number of graduate students to attend UIST at reduced fees
without artificially increasing the general registration, and for
student volunteers to receive complimentary registration.
Corporate support can also be targeted to support a particular
event or activity at the UIST Symposium. For example, you might
finance the coffee breaks.

Can you to arrange for *** to sponsor UIST `99 which will be held
in Asheville, NC at the Grove Park Inn on November 7-10, 1999?
Your support, either as direct support for students or as support
for a particular event, is a highly-leveraged way to invest in
the entire UIST community.

In recognition of your support, the UIST Symposium will
acknowledge your corporate sponsorship in the following ways:

- On the conference advance program, your name logo will be used.

- Your company name and logo will be included in the conference
announcement in the SIGCHI bulletin

- Your company name, logo and link will be included in the
symposium web pages, maintained at http://www.acm.org/uist/

- We will announce the company and thank you at the opening and
closing sessions of the conference.

If you decide to sponsor an event, you will be given sole
sponsorship of the event and it will be publicized in the advance
program, the final program and at the event itself. Please feel
free to contact me regarding possibilities for event sponsorship.

The standard corporate sponsorship this year for students is
$1,500.

Should you decide to be a UIST Corporate Sponsor, we would like
to have your letter of commitment soon and your check by August
15, 1999.

With thanks on behalf of the entire UIST community for
considering support of the conference, I remain sincerely yours,
