The following information is focused on the concept of technology planning
for educational purposes. Currently, this page focuses on K-12 education
in the United States, though there are a number of resources listed here
which could be applied more generally. The following categories lead
to additional pages with a variety of links which might be useful.
My Own Information
-
Technology Plan for Montague Area Public
Schools. This is the full text of the plan for the implementation
of technologies in the educational system of the MAPS district. Included
are the methodology, findings, recommendations, schedule for implementation,
and some useful appendices. It is what I consider a comprehensive
plan in that it addresses a variety of areas and concerns regarding technology.
-
Teacher Survey for Montague Area Public
Schools. Developed as a part of the planning process, this
survey was useful in determining teacher requests and needs and frequency
of use of various technologies in classrooms. In Adobe Acrobat format.
-
Inventory Form for Montague Area Public
Schools. Yet another piece of the plan. This form is
somewhat dated, but could be useful if altered to meet today's technologies.
-
"Developing a Comprehensive Technology
Plan" Notes. Speaker notes and handouts from my slides
of the MACUL '97 presentation of the same title.
-
"Staff Development on a Tight Budget"
Notes. Slide notes from my other MACUL '97 presentation.
-
My List of Resources for Technology. All sorts of addresses,
phone numbers, articles, books, etc. which have helped me in the planning
process. Consider it an annotated bibliography of my readings of
technology and education.
-
Steps in Developing a Comprehensive Plan. Soon to come,
this is a how-to guide I am creating on the planning process for schools.
-
Case Studies of Innovative Staff Development. Also soon
to come, these are some of the interesting examples of staff development
programs for technology use which I have seen in my travels.
-
Case Studies of Innovative Educational Programs Using Technology.
A collection of interesting, student-centered activities which utilize
technologies in the classroom.
-
"May You Live in Interesting Times!" Notes and
thoughts based on my work as an educator. Soon to come!
Other People's Information
-
National Center for
Technology Planning. A clearinghouse for technology planning
information and technology plans for education. Larry Anderson and
his students at Mississippi State have collected and developed a number
of articles meant to assist in the planning process.
-
The Technology Planner's Homepage. A collection of information
from someone like myself.
-
International Society for Technology
in Education (ISTE). THE group to belong to for great resources
on technology use in schools. Based at the University of Oregon,
Dave Moursund and others have put together one great professional organization.
-
Michigan Association
of Computer Users in Learning (MACUL). One of Michigan's
professional organizations for educators using technology. No, they
don't have a whole lot of resources for technology planning, but there
are some great "planners" who are members, and they have a helluva
conference every year.
