Wide Web Site Assignments:
In an effort to utilize educational abilities of the evolving technology
available in our society, as well as provide opportunities to demonstrate
your teaching skills and ideas to potential employers and other individuals,
we are requiring you to develop a personal educational Internet site as
a part of your teacher preparation within the MAC program. As mentioned
earlier, the Internet is one of a number of technological resources available
within our society. In order to better prepare yourself for the use
of this fantastic resource, we are asking you to develop your own resource
as an educator, hoping this experience will promote further use of these
tools within your own classroom.
We recognize that many of the tools first demonstrated within the summer
technology sessions are no longer available to you within the multimedia
classrooms or university computer labs, so we have tried to accommodate
these deficiencies by extending the timeline and altering the expectations
of the assignment. Below are listed the requirements and expectations
of the assignment.
Version 1.0 (Due January 21)
Your earliest version of the site should simply demonstrate that you
know some of the basics about posting information on a web page, and that
you are able to use the hypertext power of the web by creating links to
at least two pages; one of your own, and an external site. Your site
should consist of at least two pages which link to each other and have
at least one external link. You should also try to include one graphic
element on your site. This site should be available for the faculty
to review at your standard web address (http://www.umich.edu/~youruniqname)
and you also may want to include a written (on paper) piece to describe
what you eventually want to do with the site, so that we may help you get
there.
Version 2.0 (Due May 6)
The updated version of your site will include as a minimum all of the
content information listed below within a hypertext framework. All
links and graphics should work appropriately. The site should have
a main index page available at your standard web address listed above,
along with separate pages for the following items:
-
Resume (an electronic version of your resume, with appropriate links)
-
Portfolio materials (items such as papers, lesson plans, etc.)
-
Your educational book review (see that assignment)
-
An index page for sites pertinent to educational issues or a particular
educational issue.
-
An index page intended for student use which would focus on a particular
lesson or unit you are teaching. This page should be an index of
sites pertinent to the lesson or unit which students of yours can use as
a resource.
This site has been developed primarily
for use by the students in the MAC A Program at the University of Michigan's
School of Education. This site is specific to this program, and does
not necessarily reflect the views or recommendations of the University
of Michigan or the UM School of Education. Comments, questions, or
concerns about this site should be forwarded to Stephen Best, Instructor
of the program.
