Missi & I have just returned home from attending the AG's appearance in NYC.I wanted to post a quick note to say it was simply GREAT!!
With the widely varying traffic conditions in NYC we left Danbury at 2:30 in the hopes we would arrive by 5:00. B&N staff had told folks you didn't need to arrive til 6:30, but I knew that was BS. As it turned out we got there at 4:00 and grabbed some front row seats. People began to arrive almost immediately and by 5:30 the B&N staff was bringing in additional chairs. I figure there was seating for approx. 150.
By 6:30 the place was standing room only for the approx. 100 people who had no place to sit.
I met Brenda, DanSRose, Lenore and a couple of boardello lurkers.
I made a video of the AG's entire presentation. I know the picture is good, but have not yet had the opportunity to view it all to see if it caught all the sound. I also took a bunch of stills which I will get to Sgt Steve tomorrow. (see below - steve)
And, speaking of the sound, it turns out that the NYC highway maintenance department chose 7pm to bring in a HUGE machine to grind off the top layer of the asphalt on 22nd street just as the AG was starting his talk. It was freaking hilarious. The noise was deafening at times and he kept forgetting where he was - even with his notes in front of him. Then at one point a cop car drove up 6th Ave with it's lights flashing and sirens blaring. His adlibs were priceless. I really hope I was able to get a good recording of his voice.
His talk and Q&A lasted just short of an hour. The AG then signed any and all books for everyone who wanted things signed. I stationed myself at the front near the signing table and took dozens of photos of people getting books signed. (I've noticed that after every signing folks show up here and say they were there, so I figured I might get some preemptive photos "to be identified later.)
We had a wonderful time. Hopefully some of the others who were there will add their comments when they have the opportunity.
Thanks, Chris. We loved it!!!

'dgang8' emerged from lurkerhood to post:
I guess I should post and try to shed my "lurker" status. The show was amazing. I'm really glad I got there early and got a good seat, spoke to some of you wonderful people, played a little ball. I honestly don't know how Chris does it day after day and city after city, but he was incredible. I can't remember laughing that hard at someplace in the city and not paying outrageously for a ticket. It just confirmed my notion that Chris was and is brilliant. I was holding off on reading the book, so getting home tonight is going to be like Christmas morning. Only without the breakfast and family. And snow. And decorations. And candy. Well, it will be like a man with a beard gave me a book that I had to pay for. That's close enough.
