I just returned this evening from my Lexington trip. It was wonderful weather and a great visit with my niece, who is attending UK Dental School.Hmmm, what else did I do? Oh. Yeah. I went to Chris's signing at Joseph Beth Booksellers. Chris gave a very funny talk (as many of you have already experienced). Afterwards, Vahlee and I watched as the AG signed books and I've gotta say the man loves to make faces. Laughing He is wicked funny! Chris seemed to have no problem with understanding the local dialect. I was ready to jump in and interpret if needed. Wink
I so enjoyed meeting another broadello member. Vahlee is just as nice as can be. She was wearing her Roberto shirt and I carried my Fluke tote. We were stylin'. Cool.
And here are Lib's photos, with her captions.
Lib, you are not a newbie anymore!
She say, "I reckon'..."?
12,001, 12,002, 12,003....
Lib's one of a kind tote!
That's all, folks!
April 'Vahlee' Loebick was also there (in fabulous Fruitbat Boardello Clothing). She supplies these photos (below) and writes:
My story:I had a great time. I got to the Joseph-beth bookstore, oh, about 3 hours early. I left my el cheapo hotel and locked my dog in (after walking her). I was half expecting to have to clean up a mess when I got back, but She was a good puppy (insert a Ja "good Waffles" comment here).
Anyway, I got to the store way early, a bit too early. I looked around the store, then decided to go see what else this shopping mall had nearby. So I found an ice cream shop. I paid almost 5 dollars while breaking my diet (mmmmm, ice cream) - then I went back to Joseph-Beth's, bought Fluke and ADJ, then went back to the nice little reading corner where the staff was preparing for the AG. I pulled out Fluke and began reading. Suddenly I look up and there's a shirt flying towards my face. I catch it and one of the woman who worked there told me that the staff had extras. I looked at the shirt and it was the one for ADJ - so awesome.
Hours later (literally) the little section of the room was filled. People started murmuring about books and Chris. I sat in the huge comfy chair that liked to eat people and watching as they piled in and I laughed as I watched them sit down in the hard plastic seats. My early plan had actually paid off!
Oh then the AG showed up, did his speech. There was lots of laughs and smiles. Then there was the question and answer portion, then the signing began. I was like 15th in line originally, but then I realized that my knee was not going to stand standing. So I decided to sit down and Saw lib sitting down as well. So I sat down beside her and together we made observations, talked about our trips, and patiently waited for everyone else to go bye bye. Then we did our photo session.
While the AG sat back down at the signing table and started signing Lib's stack of ADJ books, my cell phone gives me a teeny thrill (I had it on silent). It was my husband calling from Iraq. I answered it and DAMN IT, he's not connecting properly. I say "Oh well, he'll call back" and I get a few looks not only from the others in the small crowd (consisting of the bookstore staff and Lib) but also from AG. Then they make fun of my noncholantness (is that a word? well it is now. Drug induced word.) hehe.
It was all good and fun. I'm glad I took that 4 hour detour before easter. :-)
