The "A Dirty Job" Signing Tour Memory Book

Wednesday, April 12 - Books & Company, Dayton, OH

I just arrived home from Dayton, OH and wanted to express my thanks to Mr. Moore for a greatly enjoyable experience...my 1st ever book-signing! Our favorite author was well-spoken, intelligent, gracious and very funny! Just what I expected he would be. (Not a letdown at all, A.G.!) He recognized us (Oatmeal & myself) from our frequent visits around here and acknowledged our 2 3/4 hour road trip from Toledo to meet him. Regretably, we had a minor technical difficulty with one of our cameras as we were going through the line and he was kind enough to let us come through again to take another pic. My apologies go out to any of the other fans that waited so long to meet him and got stuck behind us our 2nd trip through, though. I felt really bad, but we had to work the next day and a long trip back ahead of us. Besides, this may be our only chance to get this photo of us with "His Nineness" ever again depending on Ohio's standing in the next Presidential election. ;-)

Thank you Mr. Moore for allowing us share your imagination with you though your excellent books and for your "Class-Act" treatment of your fans...yet another reason to appreciate our patron scribe.

Catch42 also sends this photo. From left to right it's Todd 'oatmeal' Wilson, the AG, and Chris 'catch42' Stokes.

Drew and AG

Hey everyone! I'm Drew, and have been a fan of Christopher's books since I first picked up Demonkeeping and have loved his work ever since.

Last night (April 12), I had the chance to meet Chris in person at his signing stop at Books & Co. in Dayton, Ohio. He's awesome! At the signing, I met a couple of other boardies (who happen to be fellow Firefly fans) who were also very cool.

He signed my books and allowed me to have a picture taken with him and the little-teeny-t-shirt I won.

[[ Not a picture from the tour, but here's another Milwaukee attendee who found her way from the signing to the board. sgt_steve ]]

Hopefully this came out! We were in Dayton last night. Had a blast!!! Chris is funnier in person than his books.

Also lured to the Boardello after the Dayton stop is 'Jynnantonix', who writes:

The Dayton signing was terrific! It was also my first ever book signing. My friend and I drove from the western side of Indiana to get there, and it was worth every second that I spent cursing the semis on the highway. (BTW, is there some sort of invisible field that you cross over at the Ohio border that instantly doubles the number of lumberous vehicles on the road, or what?)

Anyway, I met some great people, and had an excellent time. The AG was every bit as hilarious in person as he is in print, and was gracious enough to do a personalized signing for a friend who was unable to come with us because his son was ill. AG is truly one of the most genuine and entertaining people I've ever met.

Don't feel bad about the technical difficulties with the camera. I saw at least two other people have problems with theirs, also. It seemed to be the night for it! And really... after waiting for two hours, if someone is going to get pissy over an extra two minutes, then they obviously need to work on their issues.

Also, thank you to the AG for signing my hardcover of Lamb. I'm thinking of having it simonized, and hermetically sealed to prevent people from marking it up with their grubby paws.

HazelRah drove down from Toledo and wrote:

The Dayton Signing was a good time. I left with a big ol' grin on my face. AG was a class act. His presentation was amusing from beginning to end. Lots of good humor, no big surprise there of course. Loved hearing the stories that inspired the book, though sad to hear about the loss that inspired it all. The review for a Dirty Job with the ads for rent a Ho's on the back moment was priceless.

I'm glad nobody booed when he went off on the Red states and he who shall not be worth naming.

I so wanted to ask him if he would be interested in doing a series of Juvy Picture books staring Roberto that I would more than willingly offer up my services to illustrate, but someone beat me to the punch and asked him if he would ever do Young Readers books. Figured it would be like asking the same question twice and opening myself up to his wicked wit of a diss for asking the same question as the last guy. Ce la Vie.

AG was kind thru the entire line of people (didnt he break 100 at this signing? And he signed them all.). He signed my entire HC collection of his books, and was even nice enough to meet my request to sign V 2.0 after his signature on my updated copy of SA. When he was signing me HC of Lamb, he made some comment about how much they went for on Ebay, and I had to laugh. (what crack head would sell THAT book away??? Hell, I own two and I wouldn't part with either) .

I even bumped into a friend I used to work with that I hadn't seen in awhile. She won a T-shirt ("Oh my God, that's me!!"). Those small shirts were nice (though they did need a little cartoon word balloon, with the word 'Kitty" being shouted from the baby). Apparently they didn't know about the Moorons love for all things chocolate. Anyone else hear bout the guy who outbid all for the shirt and signed poster? Apparently it was for his daughters birthday. Good job DAD!!, lol.

I had a great evening, only gripe was that it was over too soon. Well worth the drive. Had such a good time that all next day it had me hand-selling his books at my store like they were the new crack.

Many Thanks to you AG!! Wishing you safe travels for the remainder of the tour.

Last but certianly not least, long-time Boardelloite and Diva-In-Training 'KatarinaNavane' was there and wrote:

I Greeted HazelRah and said "nice shirt" but I didn't realize that it was HazelRah until now! lol KoL rules, even though i don't actually play it. My bf was a relatively high level pastamancer for a while tho.

heehee I won a shirt. It's even kinda too big for me lol. AG didn't recognize me at first, but he did when he drew my ticket (I wrote Laura AKA KatarinaNavane). For some reason, I always always always win at drawings. No clue why.

I feel really bad tho, the person who was behind me in line saw my bracelet and asked me for one of my business cards, and I totally forgot to get her one.

I'm afraid that I didn't have time to stick around afterwards tho, 'twas a school night and we had another 3 hour drive ahead of us. I got pineapple at Trader Joes and ate it with chopsticks on the way home.

'Twas fabulous.
