R. Wade Schuette, CDP, MBA, MPH

Mr. Schuette is an independent consultant in Social Technology in general and virtual reality in specific.    He was trained in computing at IBM in Cleveland, and has spent over 40 years in enterprise-level information technology.   His current focus is on use of virtual reality for teaching collaboration, teamwork, leadership,  mindfulness, and “a culture of safety.”

He has a bachelor’s degree in Physics, an MBA (1976, Cornell), an MPH (2008, Johns Hopkins) and a CDP (1978, Certificate in Data Processing from the Institute for the Certification of Computer Professionals).   He also completed 37 of the 40 credits in a Master of Computer Science program at the University of Michigan in Distributed Artificial Intelligence in the late 1990’s.

At Hopkins, his coursework included Patient Safety (taught by Peter Pronovost and Bryan Sexton),  and Disaster Preparedness.   His training includes Health Care Leadership at the Ross School of Business and Toyota Lean Thinking (5 days, Ann Arbor, with Jeff Liker, etc.)

He’s an active member of the Baha’i Faith,  and a private pilot.

He is a builder, scripter,  animator, and cinema creator in the virtual reality world Second Life and the OpenSim grids Jokaydia and 3rd Rock.  His areas of interest are specifically training health care workers for leadership roles and mindfulness, and virtual-reality simulations related to disaster preparedness drills focusing on first-responder, health care provider, and public health provider training.

He is also a member of the Systems Dynamics Society,  working in education in “systems thinking”, feedback,  and issues with modeling dynamic active adaptive multi-level systems.   Training students in “systems thinking” is also a major interest.
