| For more than thirty years
the Maharashtra Studies Group (MSG) has facilitated communication among
scholars of Maharashtra who are based in North America. The MSG is an
affiliate organization of the Association for Asian Studies.
Recognizing both new communication media and much recent growth in the number of Maharashtra scholars in North America, we aim here to encourage greater self-awareness and more interaction among all who are interested in studying Maharashtra or Marathi. We plan to maintain an up-to-date listing of scholars and others and want to include summaries of their particular interests, lists of relevant publications, and links to personal web-sites. Announcements of Marathi language courses and other academic programs and conferences with Maharashtra content appear on a separate page. As we start this web project, we shall focus mainly on comprehensively including those who live and work in North America and shall begin to list as many other Maharashtra scholars as possible who live outside of India. Once this initial phase is accomplished, we hope to coordinate efforts with scholars in Maharashtra and elsewhere in India and to assemble an on-line global resource on Maharashtrian scholarship where all information would be available in both English and Marathi. Let us know how to make this site more useful to you. Please send information, corrections, and ideas to Anne Feldhaus and Lee Schlesinger (Anne.Feldhaus@asu.edu, schlesin@umich.edu).
