SHOOT TIME AT MANISTEE

WELCOME TO "SHOOT TIME AT MANISTEE" FOR 2009.  Our rendezvous is a low-pressure fun shoot.  We want you to enjoy yourself while you are a visitor to our camp.

In several matches, contestants will be able to use Civil War rifled muskets and mini bullets.  These matches are marked with an asterisk (*), original style Civil War minie bullets only, no modern minie, maxie, saboted bullets or buffalo bullets allowed.  This reflects the historical fact that all types of guns were used in open competition.  No modern inline action muzzle loading guns will be allowed in any of our matches.

An added pre-rendezvous event for Friday, June 26, 2009:  We will hold a Military Rife Match, open to any kind of military rifle capable of firing 10 shots in 70 seconds, including reload. The cost is $5.00, and you need to bring 50 rounds of ammunition. Registration is 8:00 a.m. on the range. Awards will be given immediately following the match.

Bring your old single shot black powder cartridge rifle.  We have a single shot black powder cast lead bullet match.  You may use black, duplex or smokeless powder in your loads, topped with cast lead bullets without gas checks.

The Ottawa Trail Woods Walk takes two hours.  In this match the shooters must sign up for the time slot.  Up to six person groups of rifles or smoothbores will participate in each time slot.  Approximate times for line matches are listed to facilitate your woods walk plans.

At 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, we will celebrate Shoot Time at Manistee’s 50th birthday with a special cake-cutting ceremony.  Everyone is invited to bring their musical instruments and a good ole time will be had by all with some good ole pickin-n-grinnin, hoot’n and holler’n.

Organized shooting has always been a very safe recreational activity.  To help keep it that way EYE AND EAR PROTECTION is a mandatory requirement for all shooters.

For those who have never ventured to Old Fort Rendezvous afore, the cost for all muzzle loading events is $30.00 for the whole family (children under 19 years of age) for all muzzle loading events.  There is no separate traders or campers fee – it is now included in the initial $30.00 family fee.  All shooters will be issued a competitor number and camp permit – please post the permit by your camp and have the competitor number in your possession at each match. The Friday, June 26 Military Rifle Match is separate from other events, and a $5.00 registration fee is charged for this event. (See separate program for this event.)
