What do I use the Relocate-R for?

The Relocate-R is a service designed to help people gather information about the city they're moving to. It provides various reports about cities and their suburbs, including cost of living, demographics, and leisure activities. This should help a person undergoing relocation decide which area is right for them.

How do I log in?

At the Welcome page, press the Login button. The login screen will then appear. Fill in the ID and Password dialog boxes and press the Submit button.

How do I log out?

The Logout button appears on the left most frame. Press this button and you will receive a confirmation message indicating that you have been logged out.

How much does the Relocate-R cost?

A 6 month subscription to the Relocate-R costs just $9.95. Before you subscribe, check with your company. They may already have a contract to use this service, which means YOU can use it free of charge!

How do I print reports?

To print a report, just go to the page that shows the report you want to print. Then hit your browser's PRINT button. It's that simple!

Where is the data from?

The data is gathered from city Chambers of Commerce, the Economic Research Institute, the U.S. Census Department, city agents, and city web sites.

How often is the data updated?

The data is updated the first of every other month. The last date the information was updated can be found on the About Us page.

What cities are available?

Currently, cities with populations over 1,000,000 are available.

How do I renew my subscription?

Two (2) weeks before your subscription expires you will automatically receive an email message notifying your that your have the option of renewing your subscription. If you want to renew your subscription, simply respond to the message. Otherwise, your account will expire.

How do I cancel my subscription?

To cancel you subscription to Relocate-R, e-mail us at gemari@umich.edu. Please include your reason for canceling, to help us improve customer service.

What do the buttons mean?

  • Sample -- This button allows a non-registered user to tour a few selected features of our site.
  • Login -- This button allows a registered user to sign on to the system.
  • Logout -- This button logs you out of the system.
  • Subscribe -- This allows a non-registered user to subscribe to our service.
  • Help -- This brings up the screen you're looking at now.
  • About Us -- This shows information about the Relocate-R, and about our company.
  • U.S. Map -- This button returns you to the U.S. map page, so you can select a new region.
  • Regional Map -- This button returns you the Regional map page, so you can select a new state.
  • State Map -- This button returns you to the State map page, so you can select a new metro area.
  • City Map -- This button returns you to the City map page, so you can select a new suburb of the city.
  • Academics -- This button displays academic information for the city's school district.
  • Cost of Living -- This button displays cost of living information for the city, compared to the national average.
  • Demographics -- This button displays demographic information for the city.
  • Housing -- This button displays housing and apartment costs for the city.
  • City Map -- This button shows a map of the city and its surrounding area.
  • Leisure -- This button links to pages showing entertainment resources for the city.
  • General Info -- This button shows general information for a city. This is usually information not covered by any of the other topics.
