City Hall News Beat
Much new development is being planned along Plymouth Road and also along
Green Road. The Bromley Homeowners Association and representatives from
Orchard Hills/Maplewood have been following Planning Commission hearings
regarding various forthcoming projects. One possible outcome might be an
eventual light at Prairie and Plymouth, if an access road is (eventually)
put through from Plymouth south into the site at 1600 Huron Parkway.
Should this possibility move to the level of actually being proposed
(there is currently no such proposal), it will be useful to have input
from anyone in Bromley who is interested in this notion. It appears
premature to formally poll the neighborhood; however, a bit of advance
insight is always useful. Please call Bill, 761-1231, or send e-mail to
him, copyrght@umich.edu, to communicate your feelings about this sort of
idea.
Bromley Facade
Thanks to all who have worked so hard to make the Bromley facade, that
strip between Bromley and Huron Parkway, look good. When the lawns are
nicely mown, and the areas around the trees well-weeded, it looks nice and
offers a continuity in appearance as one traverses that stretch of the
Parkway. The petunias behind the Beechler household look terric.
The Bromley Homeowners Association thanks all who have participated.
Bike Path into Bromley Park
How nice it is for parents with strollers, and others, to have easier
access to the playground area. The sidewalk on the east side of
Briarcliff, north of Aurora, has been extended just beyond the ridge in
Bromley Park. From the end of that sidewalk, a bike path leads pedestrians
to the playground and back again to Briarcliff. Our enjoyment of the park
should be enhanced; as it is, let us also remember that there are
neighbors who live nearby. Please remember to put your trash in the
barrels provided in the park.
Party in the Park a Big Success
The original Say Good-Bye to Summer neighborhood picnic, scheduled for
August 24 in Bromley Park, was postponed because of rain. It was actually
held on Sunday, October 5, a day that looked and felt much more like an
August day than the original date had.
A number of Bromley residents attended and partook of the ample food.
While the children played on the playground equipment or just ran around,
the adults enjoyed talking with each other. It was a good chance for both
long-term and new residents of the neighborhood to get to know each other,
as well as talk about common interests.
