BROMLEY HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION
AUGUST NEWSLETTER, AUGUST, 1996

NEIGHBORHOOD NIGHT OUT PARTY IN BROMLEY PARK
For the past six years, the annual party in Bromley Park has been
a big hit. Once again, over 50 people came to the party--as we launch a
new school year, it is nice to know that so many people in the
neighborhood know not only their immediate neighbors, but also a wider
circle within Bromley. Knowing your neighborhood helps to protect it.
Thanks to all who brought dishes to pass to supplement the roast turkey
provided by BHA; it was indeed a fine celebration of Thanksgiving in
August.

SUMMARY OF BHA MEETING.
Much of the content of the past BHA meeting, was discussed in the
July Newsletter. The following new business was also a topic of
conversation.

Friends of Huron Parkway:
Sandy Arlinghaus proposed founding a new organization: Friends of
Huron Parkway. BHA Board members present voted unanimously to join as a
homeownersA association member. The basic idea is that:
	a. Organizations that cut across neighborhoods may have the
capability to communicate at a level different from, and in addition to, a
homeownersA association.
	b. Targets for membership:
		i. HomeownersA associations with frontage on Huron
Parkway;
		ii. Environmental groups;
		iii.  Business and industrial groups along the Parkway;
		iv. Concerned individuals.
	c. It will be an electronic organization, focused on
communication among members; typically, a homeowners association or other
member might have one or a few people who regularly check the website and
pass along matters of interest to the neighborhood. Indeed, these
concerned individuals might also contribute material to the website.
Sandy agreed to run the organization and provide the necessary computer
access and Webmaster work.
	d. Look for the electronic address for this new organization, and
news from it, in future Bromley HomeownersA Association Newsletters.

BHA ELECTIONS

At the September BHA meeting, the annual elections of Board
members will occur. Residents of Bromley vote each year at the September
open public meeting for four candidates. Officers of the Board are
elected by the new Board, sometime shortly after the election of the new
Board. This year the slate of candidates includes, but is not limited to:
Elfriede Hofacker, Rajeev Batra, Howard Schafer, and Bill Arlinghaus. If
you wish to add your name to the slate, talk to a current board member.
Watch for a separate flyer announcing the date, time, and location of the
September meeting.

BHA DUES--THANKS TO SO MANY
As the BHA year comes to a close, we have so many to thank for
remembering to support their neighborhood with the $5.00 dues. Remember,
dues bring you a monthly Newsletter delivered to your home and provide
Bromley grants to support neighborhood activities. This past year, your
dues supported, in addition to the Newsletter production and delivery (a
substantial amount), a gift to Thurston School Library, summer parties at
the pool, support for the All-Bromley garage sale, and food and supplies
for the annual party in Bromley Park.
Please start off the school year by remembering to pay your $5.00
dues to BHA for the 1996/1997 year. Drop a check, together with the
attached form, in the box on the front porch of Colleen Thurston: 2819
Briarcliff, Ann Arbor, 48105. Thanks to those who have remembered to join
(as of August 12) for the 1995/1996 year.
